How it works

What is Permanent Jewelry?

Permanent jewelry is custom-fit jewelry that’s secured with a small weld instead of a clasp. It’s designed to be worn daily — simple, comfortable, and long-lasting. If you’ve never experienced it before, the process is quick and safe. There’s no pain — just a small spark — and I guide you through the whole thing. Looking for less commitment? Add a clasp for a custom piece that’s easy to remove.

What the Process Looks Like

Step 1:

Choose Your Piece

Start by choosing your chain and any connectors or details you love. I’ll help guide you based on your style and what you’ll actually wear day to day — nothing overcomplicated, just pieces that feel like you.

Step 2:

Custom Fit

Your jewelry is sized specifically to you so it sits comfortably and feels natural. Whether you like a closer fit or something a little looser, we’ll adjust it to what feels right.

Step 3:

Quick Weld

Once everything is perfect, a small weld closes the piece in place. It’s quick, safe, and completely painless.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to common questions about permanent jewelry.

What is permanent jewelry?

At Desert Bloom Welds it is custom, welded jewelry made of high quality 14k Gold-Filled, .925 Sterling Silver, or Solid Gold metals. It is made to be worn 24/7 and can be made with or without a clasp, meaning it holds up to everyday wear and is water- and tarnish-resistant.

Is it actually permanent?

No, you can remove it any time by simply cutting the jump ring with a pair of scissors or nail clippers. It is also not indestructible, so it’s best to treat your jewelry with care and keep it clean of chemicals, lotions, and perfumes with a soft, damp cloth.

Is it safe? Does it hurt?

It is completely safe and painless! I do everything in my power to keep both my clients and myself safe, using protective eyewear and a small leather patch while welding to protect your skin and eyes.

How long does it last?

Several months to years! The length of wear for your jewelry will depend on many factors including lifestyle, care, and natural PH. The metals we work with are high quality and tarnish-resistant, but exposure to chemicals, lotions, perfumes, salty air, and your body’s natural PH can cause tarnishing over time. It is best to keep your jewelry clean with a soft, damp cloth especially after activities that cause sweating or exposure.

Can I get it wet?

Yes, your jewelry is made to wear while showering and swimming without coming off! Make sure to gently clean with a soft, damp cloth after exposure to salt water or chlorine, and pat dry.

What if I need to remove it?

If you start to feel uncomfortable or experience an allergic reaction, please cut the jewelry off immediately. If you need to cut your piece off for a medical procedure or sport, let us know within 7 days and we can schedule an appointment to reconnect your jewelry at no cost! We also offer clasps for those whose lifestyle may require frequent removal of their jewelry.

Can I travel with it?

Yes, your jewelry should not cause any issues with TSA or metal detectors, however if you need to remove your jewelry for travel, just let us know within 7 days and we can set an appointment to reconnect your piece at no cost.

Can my child get permanent jewelry?

There is no danger in the welding process for children who can sit still. We can weld on your child with your consent, but keep in mind the nature of permanent jewelry: it is delicate and can be broken if yanked on or snagged and may not be the best choice for play time!

What happens if it breaks?

We offer a Weld Warranty! If your piece breaks or you have to cut it off for any reason, let us know within 7 days and we can schedule an appointment to reconnect your jewelry, at no additional cost. We also offer clasps for those who want the option to remove their jewelry regularly. Still custom, still welded. Just removable.
